Once you’ve tried your hand at homemade granola, you will never go back to buying it at the grocery store. For three important reasons.

  • It’s super easy to make.
  • It’s way more budget friendly than prepackaged varieties.
  • You can control what goes in it, especially the amount of sugar going in.

This apple pie granola is sweetened just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, but not so much that I feel regret after eating handfuls of it. It’s also loaded with hearty nuts, grains and seeds to keep you full between meals.

Here’s what you need:

I use Bare Baked Apple Chips to flavor the granola. Grind them very finely before adding them to the mix. The maple will help the apple bits stick to the pecans and the oats, covering each bite of granola in delicious apple flavor!

How to make apple pie granola:

Purée the apple chips for about 30 seconds in the food processor or until very fine.

In a small bowl, stir together the butter and maple syrup.

In a large bowl, combine all your dry ingredients, including the ground apple chips.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until very well coated.

Spread the granola evenly in a large sheet pan.

Bake for a total of 30 minutes, tossing halfway through. Use a rubber spatula to press the granola into the pan after tossing. As the granola bakes, you will begin to understand why it’s call Apple Pie Granola. Just wait for it!

Once finished, allow to cool completely before breaking it up. As soon as it comes out of the oven it will still seem wet and soggy, but it will crisp up beautifully as it cools.

What to do with Apple Pie Granola:

Keep the granola stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a month, though ours never lasts more than a couple days! Enjoy it by the handful or eat it with milk. It’s delicious piled on top of yogurt, sprinkled on top of oatmeal or even as a topping for ice cream!

Thank you Christen, this is one of the best I’ve made. I have a few different granola recipes that I make, this is my new favorite. First time I made, I made exactly as directed 5 stars. Second time, I used vegan butter as I was making for holiday gifts and a neighbor is vegan, just a delicious.
